Warner Bros has officially announced Multiversus, its Smash Bros style fighting game.
Reports and leaks surrounding the game have been spreading for the past few weeks, and the game is now finally official.
The game will be a free-to-play fighter and will mainly focus on 2 vs 2 gameplay.
Multiversus will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One and PC, with full cross-play support.

As in Smash Bros, each character in Multiversus will have their own special techniques unique to them.
For example, Wonder Women will have her Lasso of Truth attack, while Shaggy can throw sandwiches at enemies. Arya Stark will have a face-swapping ability, while Superman has his patented laser vision.
While the game’s focus is mainly on 2 vs 2 fighting, the game will also include 1 vs 1 fights and a 4-player free-for-all mode, two options that will better suit Smash Bros players.
The character roster doesn’t stop at likenesses – Warner Bros has confirmed that the game will have an extensive voiceover cast, including Kevin Conroy, Tara Strong, Matthew Lillard, Maisie Williams, John DiMaggio and Estelle.

Previous leaks including design documents for the game suggest that some of the characters still to be added may include Gandalf from The Lord of the Rings, and Rick from Rick and Morty.
Speaking in a Giant Bomb video last month, journalist Jeff Grubb claimed to have heard that Multiversus could be a free-to-play title with future characters sold as DLC, including LeBron James.
Warner has previously mixed its IPs on several occasions. Video game Lego Dimensions combined numerous characters from its franchises including The Lego Movie, Batman, The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Scooby-Doo, Gremlins, The Goonies and Beetlejuice.
